Our Seminar Begins

With only a few hours of sleep we woke for lunch. Our schedule is packed full of activities and we are off and running. We arrived at the offices of the U. S. Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) for our inaugural session. The Fulbright Commission in India was creted by a treaty on educational exchange between the Governments of India and the USA in 1950 to promote mutual understanding of Indian and Americans through higher education.

After the keynote address and a special lighting ceremony, we were the guests of honor at a dinner reception. The red carpet led the way to an open-air tent formally dressed for the occasion. Twinkling white lights illuminated the evening and added to the elegance of the setting. We mingled with the organizers of our seminar, representatives from the U.S. Embassy, teachers and other invited guests. The evening made us all feel very honored and welcome.
